Check which sites list you, free

Checks the people-search sites we track. No account, email, or card. You see the results before you create an account.

BackgroundCheckers.net wears the now-familiar costume: "background check" branding over a plain people-search directory. Type in a name and out come addresses, ages, phone numbers, and relatives, free to preview, no vetting of who's asking or why.

It shares its opt-out platform with sibling sites like PrivateRecords.net and PeopleSearch123 (same flow, same look) but its database and requests are its own, so you must submit here separately even if you've cleared the siblings.

Steps checked against BackgroundCheckers.net's live Privacy Requests page on October 16, 2026. We read the form; we did not submit it, so timelines are as BackgroundCheckers.net states them.

What is BackgroundCheckers.net?

BackgroundCheckers.net compiles public records into people-search listings:

  • Full name, age, and aliases
  • Current and prior addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Relatives and associates
  • Paid report upsells layered on top

It is not an FCRA screening service (no employer can lawfully use it for hiring) but its data is exactly what a nosy stranger wants.

Before you start

  • Know which option you want. "Your Privacy Choices" stops BackgroundCheckers.net selling or sharing your data but does not remove a listing. "Remove My Information" is the one that stops your record being returned.
  • Have your date of birth, city, ZIP code and state ready. All are required for a removal, along with your first and last name. The page says it keeps them on file only to keep the record suppressed and never sells or shares them.
  • Use an email you can open. Nothing is removed until you click the confirmation link BackgroundCheckers.net emails you. A masked or secondary address works.

How to remove yourself from BackgroundCheckers.net, step by step

Step 1: Open the Privacy Requests page

Go to backgroundcheckers.net and click "Do Not Sell Or Share My Personal Info" in the footer. It opens a Privacy Requests page that replaced the older opt-out search.

Step 2: Choose "Remove My Information"

The page asks what you want to do. Pick Remove My Information. (Your Privacy Choices is a do-not-sell request: no confirmation email, applied within 15 business days, and your listing stays up.)

Step 3: Describe the person in the listing

Enter first name, last name, date of birth, city, ZIP code and state, exactly as they apply to the listing. Middle initial is optional.

Step 4: Give a confirmation email and submit

Enter the email address the confirmation link should go to. It doesn't have to be the listed person's address. Click Submit.

Step 5: Click the confirmation link

Open the email from BackgroundCheckers.net and click the link. Until you do, nothing is removed.

Step 6: Repeat for other records

Name variants and old locations may need their own request.

Filing for someone else

An authorized agent can file either request. For Remove My Information, tick "I'm submitting this on behalf of the person in the listing" and attach the person's signed authorization as a PDF (up to 10 MB). The confirmation email can be the agent's own. BackgroundCheckers.net also takes agent requests by phone at (833) 714-0641.

How long does removal take?

BackgroundCheckers.net says it acknowledges requests within 10 business days and completes them within 45 calendar days, counted from the day you submit. Once the link is clicked, it stops returning the person in new searches, in reports members already have access to, and in matching records it takes in later. It can't recall a copy someone already downloaded.

If the link never arrives, or you'd rather not use the page, BackgroundCheckers.net says you can call (833) 714-0641 to complete the request.

Verify the removal

After the confirmation, search your name on backgroundcheckers.net in a private window, and check again before the 45-day deadline. Google your name site:backgroundcheckers.net to catch any straggling cached pages; those clear on their own within weeks.

Why your listing can come back

New public records rebuild listings across this platform on each refresh cycle. Between the forgettable domain and the silent reappearance, this is exactly the kind of site where you'll never notice you're re-listed, until someone else does.

So put a re-check on your calendar. Defynta's free scan includes a link to BackgroundCheckers.net so you can check it yourself, but we do not read BackgroundCheckers.net automatically yet, so Web Watcher monitoring cannot alert you about this site.

Who runs BackgroundCheckers.net. California's data broker registry (read October 18, 2026) lists it under Private Records LLC, together with PrivateRecords.net, PeopleSearch123 and PersonSearchers.com. One company, but each site takes its own request.

Frequently asked questions

Is the opt-out free?

Yes. No payment, no account, a few minutes per record.

Can employers actually check my background here?

Not lawfully, the site isn't an FCRA consumer reporting agency, and its own terms forbid employment use. In practice, the risk isn't HR departments; it's individuals with personal motives and five free minutes.

I cleared PrivateRecords and PeopleSearch123 already. Same company?

Yes: California's data broker registry lists all three, plus PersonSearchers.com, under Private Records LLC. Each site's form still only suppresses that site's listings, so do all of them.

The verification email landed in spam three days later. Too late?

Click it anyway: nothing is removed until it is clicked, and the page gives no expiry for it. If the link fails, the page says you can call (833) 714-0641 to complete the request.
