411.com listings are powered by Whitepages, so removal goes through the Whitepages suppression flow. Here's the exact process, phone verification included.

411.com carries one of the most trusted names in directory lookups, "411" was literally the number you dialed for information. The modern website trades on that familiarity, offering free people search: names, addresses, phone numbers, ages, and relatives.

Behind the brand, though, 411.com has long been operated by Whitepages, and its listings are fed by Whitepages data. That's the key removal fact: there is no separate 411.com opt-out. You suppress your Whitepages listing, and your 411.com listing goes with it.

What is 411.com?

411.com is a Whitepages-run directory site whose listings typically include:

  • Full name and age
  • Current and past addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Relatives and associates

Because both sites draw from the same database, anything you see about yourself on 411.com is also on whitepages.com, and vice versa.

Before you start

Two ways through, both run by Whitepages:

  • The opt-out tool asks for a phone number; in our earlier research it sent a call or text with a code to the number tied to your listing.
  • An opt-out request by email or web form needs no phone number (see below).
  • Grab your 411.com or Whitepages listing URL before you start, the form asks for it.

How to remove yourself from 411.com, step by step

Step 1: Find your listing

Search your name and city at 411.com. Click "View Details" on the listing that's you and copy the URL from the address bar. (You can equally start from whitepages.com, same record, same result.)

Step 2: Open the Whitepages suppression page

Go to whitepages.com/suppression-requests and paste your listing URL, then click Next.

Step 3: Confirm the listing and request removal

Verify the listing shown is yours, click "Remove Me," and pick a removal reason from the dropdown.

Step 4: Verify by phone

Enter the phone number on the listing. Whitepages sends an automated call or text with a code, it arrives fast, so be ready. Enter the code to confirm.

Step 5: Wait for processing

Suppression typically applies within 24 to 48 hours, and it covers both whitepages.com and 411.com.

Can't do the phone verification, or would rather not?

Whitepages runs 411.com, and 411.com's privacy page sends personal-information requests to Whitepages' Consumer Privacy Rights page (checked October 16, 2026). That page takes opt-out requests without a phone number: email privacyrequest@whitepages.com with your listing URL, your name as listed, and a request to remove the listing and opt out of its sale and sharing, or use the web form linked there. It asks you to allow up to two business days for a reply, and says opt-outs can take up to 15 days. Whitepages lists the email and form under the privacy rights of residents of California and the other states its page names; if a reply points you back to the tool, use the tool.

Verify the removal

After 48 hours (or once Whitepages confirms an emailed request, which can take up to 15 days), search yourself on both 411.com and whitepages.com in a private browsing window. They should clear together. If either still shows you, send Whitepages that listing URL by email or the web form.

Why your listing can come back

Whitepages (and therefore 411.com) refreshes continuously from public records and commercial feeds. New addresses and numbers generate new listings that aren't covered by your old suppression. Re-check every few months, or hand it to Defynta's Web Watcher. Silver subscribers can turn on monitoring, which rescans both sites every 30 days by default and emails you when a listing comes back.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to opt out of 411.com and Whitepages separately?

No, one suppression covers both, because they share the same underlying database. Verify on both sites anyway; trust but confirm.

Is this free?

Yes. Suppression is free and doesn't require an account or any Whitepages product.

Why does the tool call or text me?

Anti-abuse: the code proves the request comes from someone with access to the listed number, preventing strangers from removing listings that aren't theirs. If you'd rather not, use the email or web form route instead.

My listing shows an old number I can't answer. Now what?

Use the email route above, include the listing URL and your name exactly as displayed, and state that the listed number is no longer yours.
