PeopleSearch.com owns maybe the most generic (and most typed-in) domain in this entire industry. Search a name there and you get the usual: addresses, phone numbers, age, relatives. The premium domain means real traffic, which means your listing there gets seen.
The removal has a twist: start the opt-out on PeopleSearch.com and you'll find yourself handed off to Whitepages, whose data and suppression system sit behind the site's people-search results. So the working process is Whitepages': its opt-out tool (which asks for a phone number) or an opt-out request by email or web form, and one removal clears you on both properties.
What is PeopleSearch.com?
PeopleSearch.com serves people-search listings drawn from the Whitepages data ecosystem:
- Full name and age
- Current and previous addresses
- Phone numbers
- Relatives and associates
If you've already suppressed your Whitepages listing, check PeopleSearch.com anyway, it should be clear, and verifying costs a minute.
Before you start
- The opt-out tool asks for a phone number (in our earlier research, a call or text with a code to the number on your listing). Prefer not to? Use the email or web form route below.
- Grab your listing URL first (steps below).
How to remove yourself from PeopleSearch.com, step by step
Step 1: Find your listing
Search your full name plus city and state at peoplesearch.com. Open the listing that matches you.
Step 2: Start the opt-out
Look in the site footer for the "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" / removal link. Following it lands you in the Whitepages opt-out flow, that's expected, not a wrong turn.
Step 3: Locate your record on Whitepages
In the Whitepages flow, search your name, city, and state again, open your listing via "View Details," and copy its URL. Then submit it at whitepages.com/suppression-requests.
Step 4: Confirm and choose a reason
Verify the listing shown is yours, click "Remove Me," and select a reason from the dropdown.
Step 5: Verify by phone
Enter the listed phone number, take the automated call or text, and punch in the code. This confirms the suppression request.
Step 6: Wait for processing
Allow 24 to 72 hours for the suppression to propagate to both whitepages.com and peoplesearch.com.
Would rather not give a phone number?
Whitepages' Consumer Privacy Rights page (checked October 16, 2026) takes opt-out requests without one: email privacyrequest@whitepages.com with the listing URL, your name as listed, and a request to remove the listing and opt out of its sale and sharing, or use the web form linked there. It asks you to allow up to two business days for a reply, and says opt-outs can take up to 15 days. Send the whitepages.com URL of the same listing. Whitepages lists the email and form under the privacy rights of residents of California and the other states its page names; if a reply points you back to the tool, use the tool.
Verify the removal
After two days, search yourself on peoplesearch.com and whitepages.com in a private browsing window. Both should be clear. A listing that survives on either gets the suppression re-run with its exact URL.
Why your listing can come back
The Whitepages data pool refreshes constantly from public records. New records (new address, new number) produce new listings that your earlier suppression doesn't match, and they'll surface on every storefront that pool feeds, PeopleSearch.com included.
Re-check quarterly, or hand it to Defynta's Web Watcher. Silver subscribers can turn on monitoring, which rescans PeopleSearch.com and the other sites we read every 30 days by default and emails you when a listing comes back.

Frequently asked questions
Why did PeopleSearch.com send me to a different website to opt out?
Because Whitepages operates the data behind its listings. The handoff is the legitimate path, and the suppression covers both sites.
Is this free?
Yes, the whole flow, including phone verification, costs nothing.
I already opted out of Whitepages. Do I need to do anything here?
Just verify. Search yourself on peoplesearch.com; if the earlier suppression took, you won't be there. If you are, run the flow with that listing's URL.
Are PeopleSearch.com, PeopleSearchNow, and PeopleSearch123 the same site?
No, the names blur together deliberately, but they're separate operations with separate databases and separate opt-outs. Our guides cover each one.
