How to Remove Yourself from FastBackgroundCheck (2026 Guide)

FastBackgroundCheck's opt-out is a two-stage form: name and email with a CAPTCHA, then a removal form behind a 24-hour email link. Steps checked against the live page on October 18, 2026.

FastBackgroundCheck (fastbackgroundcheck.com) is a people-search site with people, reverse-phone and address lookups. Its opt-out is free, but it is a two-stage process, and the second stage sits behind an email link that expires in 24 hours. Miss the link and you start over.

Steps checked against FastBackgroundCheck's live opt-out page on October 18, 2026. We read the page; we did not submit it, so the second stage is as FastBackgroundCheck describes it. Its privacy notice and home page blocked our reader that day, so nothing here comes from them.

Before you start

  • Use an email you can open right away. If you wait more than 24 hours to click the emailed link, you need to request a new one, and the page warns the email can take a while to arrive.
  • Write down what your listing shows. The second form asks for details that match the record you want removed. FastBackgroundCheck says missing or inaccurate details only hinder the opt-out.

How to remove yourself from FastBackgroundCheck, step by step

Step 1: Open the opt-out page

Go to fastbackgroundcheck.com/optout. The page is headed "Do Not Sell/Right to Opt-out", and it is also the removal route: its own steps end with your record being removed from the site.

Step 2: Say who is filing

Under "I am", choose "The subject of this request". (The other choice, an authorized agent, is covered below.)

Step 3: Enter your name and email

Fill in first name, last name and email (middle name is optional). Tick the box that lets FastBackgroundCheck email you about the request and certifies that you are the person named, complete the CAPTCHA (a Cloudflare check when we read the page), and click Submit.

Step 4: Click the email link within 24 hours

FastBackgroundCheck emails you a link to the opt-out form. If more than 24 hours pass, request a new one.

Step 5: Complete the opt-out form

Enter your information so it matches the record you want removed, and fill in the whole form. Use the details your listing already shows rather than new ones.

Step 6: Wait for processing

You'll see a confirmation page and get a confirmation email. FastBackgroundCheck asks you to allow 3 days for your record to be fully removed from the site.

Filing for someone else

Choose "An authorized agent of the subject of the request" in step 2. You then enter your own name and email as well as the person's. The link to the opt-out form goes to the agent; once the form is submitted, confirmation goes to both the agent and the person.

Verify the removal

After three days, in a private browsing window, look yourself up again by name, by each phone number you've had and by address. If a record survives, run both stages again for it.

Why your listing can come back

Free people-search sites rebuild from public records and commercial data on a rolling basis. A new phone number or a move can produce a fresh record your earlier opt-out doesn't match, so re-check every few months. Defynta's free scan does not include FastBackgroundCheck yet, so check it yourself.

Who runs FastBackgroundCheck. California's data broker registry (read October 18, 2026) lists FastBackgroundCheck.com among the websites of Mississippi Tornado Alley, LLC, with FastPeopleSearch, USA People Search, USPhoneBook, CyberBackgroundChecks and five more. The site's own footer gives an address in Boulder, Colorado. USA People Search and USPhoneBook use the same two-stage form. The registry entry says an opt-out of sale made on any of these sites applies across all of them, but it does not say a listing removed on one comes off the others, so check each site that lists you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the FastBackgroundCheck opt-out free?

Yes. The form asks for no payment and no account.

Is FastBackgroundCheck the same site as FastPeopleSearch?

No. California's registry lists both under the same company, but they are separate sites, each with its own removal page in our guides. The registry entry says an opt-out of sale on one applies to all the company's sites; it says nothing about removing listings, so file on both if both list you.

Can FastBackgroundCheck be used to screen me for a job or an apartment?

Its own footer says it is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and that the site can't be used for employment, credit or tenant screening.
