USA People Search (usa-people-search.com) is a people-search and phone directory, browsable by last name or by phone number. Many older removal guides still describe a search followed by a "remove record" button. That is not how it works now. The current opt-out is a two-stage form, and the second stage sits behind an email link that expires in 24 hours.
Steps checked against USA People Search's live opt-out page and privacy policy on October 18, 2026. We read the pages; we did not submit the form, so the second stage is as USA People Search describes it.
Before you start
- Use an email you can open right away. The link to the removal form expires if you wait more than 24 hours to click it, and the page warns that it can take a while to arrive.
- Write down what your listing shows. The second form asks for details that match the record you want removed. USA People Search says missing or inaccurate details only slow the opt-out down.
How to remove yourself from USA People Search, step by step
Step 1: Open the opt-out form
Go to usa-people-search.com/manage. The page is headed "USA People Search Opt-Out Form".
Step 2: Say who is filing
Choose "The subject of the request" under "I am". (The other choice, an authorized agent, is covered below.)
Step 3: Enter your name and email
Fill in first name, last name and email (middle name is optional). Tick the box that lets USA People Search email you about the request and certifies that you are the person named, then complete the reCAPTCHA and click "Begin Removal Process".
Step 4: Click the email link within 24 hours
USA People Search emails you a link to the removal form. If more than 24 hours pass before you click it, request a new one.
Step 5: Complete the removal form
Enter your information so it matches the record you want opted out, and fill in the whole form. Use the details your listing already shows rather than new ones.
Step 6: Wait for processing
You'll see a confirmation page and get a confirmation email. USA People Search asks you to allow 3 days for the request to be fully processed.
Filing for someone else
Choose "An authorized agent of the subject of the request" in step 2. You then enter the person's name and email plus your own name and email. The link to the removal form goes to the agent; once the form is submitted, confirmations go to both the agent and the person. The privacy policy says it may ask an agent for the person's signed authorization.
Prefer the phone?
The privacy policy lists 800-248-1544 for opt-out of sale and for requests to know, delete or correct your information. Its only email address, support@usa-people-search.com, is offered for help reading its notices in another format, not for opt-outs. If you call, give only details the site already shows about you.
What the opt-out does and doesn't do
- It takes a record off USA People Search's own listings.
- The privacy policy calls applying an opt-out of sale to publicly available information "a courtesy", which is a reason to re-check rather than assume a record stays gone.
- The policy also says a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser opts you out of certain tracking technologies; that is separate from removing a listing.
Verify the removal
After three days, in a private browsing window, look yourself up again by name and by each phone number you've had. If a record survives, run both stages again for it.
Why your listing can come back
USA People Search's own privacy policy says it regularly receives new public records, so your publicly available information may appear again after you opt out, and it recommends refreshing your opt-out request periodically. Re-check every few months. Defynta's free scan does not include USA People Search yet, so check it yourself.
Who runs USA People Search. California's data broker registry (read October 18, 2026) lists USA-People-Search.com among the websites of Mississippi Tornado Alley, LLC, with USPhoneBook, SmartBackgroundChecks, FastPeopleSearch, CyberBackgroundChecks and five more. USPhoneBook's opt-out uses the same two-stage form. The registry entry says an opt-out of sale made on any of these sites applies across all of them, but it does not say a listing removed on one comes off the others, so check each site that lists you.

Frequently asked questions
Is the USA People Search opt-out free?
Yes. The form asks for no payment and no account.
I never got the email. What now?
Check spam, wait a little (the page says it can take some time), and if 24 hours pass, start again from step 1 to get a fresh link.
Can USA People Search be used to screen me for a job or an apartment?
Its own footer says it is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and that the site can't be used for employment, credit or tenant screening.
Does removing myself here remove me from its sister sites?
Don't count on it. The registry entry says an opt-out of sale filed on one of the company's ten sites applies across all of them, but it says nothing about removing listings, and the sister sites we have guides for each run their own removal form. Check each one that lists you.
