PeopleSearcher and SecretInfo Opt-Out (2026 Guide)

PeopleSearcher.com and SecretInfo.org each need their own removal request; neither is PersonSearchers. Name, birth date, city, email link; up to 45 days.

PeopleSearcher.com and SecretInfo.org are two people-search sites run by one company. California's data broker registry lists both under The People Searchers LLC, with a Florida address. Each has its own removal page, so getting off both takes two requests.

Steps checked against the live Privacy Requests pages on peoplesearcher.com and secretinfo.org on October 19, 2026. We read the forms; we did not submit them, so timelines are as the sites state them.

Which site are you on?

Three names sit very close together, and none of the pages says a request on one carries over to the others:

  • peoplesearcher.com: The People Searchers LLC in California's registry; removal phone (833) 634-0750
  • secretinfo.org: The People Searchers LLC; removal phone (866) 409-0140
  • personsearchers.com: Private Records LLC; phone (833) 567-9375

One more wrinkle: the registry gives (833) 567-9375 as the contact phone for The People Searchers LLC, which is the number PersonSearchers prints on its own page, even though the registry lists the two under different companies. Don't rely on one call to cover both. If the listing you found is on personsearchers.com, follow our PersonSearchers guide instead.

How to remove yourself from PeopleSearcher and SecretInfo

  1. Open peoplesearcher.com/api/helper/optOutLight/search and choose Remove My Information. The other option, Your Privacy Choices, is a do-not-sell request; the page says it "does not remove a listing".
  2. Enter first name, last name, birth month, day and year, city, ZIP code and state as they appear on the listing (middle initial optional). SecretInfo's form asks for the last name without a suffix such as Jr., Sr. or III.
  3. Give an email address for the confirmation link and press Submit. Both sites say the request is logged the moment you submit, and their deadlines run from that date.
  4. Click the link in the email. Both pages say nothing is removed until you do.
  5. Repeat at secretinfo.org/api/helper/optOutLight/search, and for any name variant or old city that has its own listing.

How long it takes

Both sites say they acknowledge requests within 10 business days and complete them within 45 calendar days, and that once you confirm they stop returning the person in new searches, in reports members already have access to, and in matching records they take in later. A copy someone already downloaded can't be recalled. If the email never arrives, call the removal number for that site in the list above.

Filing for someone else

Both pages take a removal from an authorized agent: tick "I'm submitting this on behalf of the person in the listing", attach the person's signed authorization as a PDF (up to 10 MB), and use your own email for the confirmation link. The pages say the PDF is used only to confirm you're authorized and is stored encrypted.

Check it worked

After the confirmation, search your name plus city on each site in a private browsing window, and again after 45 days. A record that doesn't match what you submitted (a new spelling, a move to a city you didn't list) can still produce a fresh listing, so re-check after big changes.

Defynta's free scan does not include PeopleSearcher or SecretInfo, so check them yourself. The scan checks the other people-search sites we track, where the same name and address records can turn up. Californians can also use the state's free DROP tool, which sends one deletion request to the brokers on its registry; see our California Delete Act guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PeopleSearcher opt-out free?

Yes. Neither site asks for payment or an account.

I removed myself from PersonSearchers. Am I off PeopleSearcher too?

Don't count on it. They are different sites listed under different companies, and neither page says one request covers the other, so file on each one that lists you.

Does a browser privacy signal remove me?

No. Both sites say they treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a do-not-sell-or-share request, which stops sharing but leaves your listing up. Only Remove My Information takes it down.
