WeInform and TruthRecord Opt-Out (2026 Guide)

WeInform and TruthRecord each have a Remove My Information form: name, birth date, city, ZIP and state, then an email link. Each says up to 45 days.

WeInform.org and TruthRecord.org are two people-search sites run by one company. California's data broker registry lists both under We Inform LLC, with a Florida address. Each site has its own copy of the same Privacy Requests page, so removing yourself is two requests, one per site.

Steps checked against the live Privacy Requests pages on weinform.org and truthrecord.org on October 19, 2026. We read the forms; we did not submit them, so timelines are as the sites state them.

TruthRecord is not TruthFinder

The names are close and easy to mix up. truthrecord.org belongs to We Inform LLC. TruthFinder is a different site, run by a different company, with its own opt-out: see our TruthFinder guide. Check the address bar before you fill anything in, and file on each site that actually lists you.

Pick the right request

Both pages offer two choices, and only one takes a listing down:

  • Remove My Information stops the site returning your record in new searches, in reports members already have access to, and in matching records it takes in later. This is the one you want.
  • Your Privacy Choices is a do-not-sell-or-share request. It takes an email or a phone number and needs no confirmation link; the pages say it takes effect straight away and is applied everywhere else within 15 business days, but that it "does not remove a listing". Both sites apply a browser's Global Privacy Control signal automatically as this same request.

How to remove yourself from WeInform and TruthRecord

  1. Open weinform.org/api/helper/optOutLight/search and choose Remove My Information.
  2. Enter first name, last name, birth month, day and year, city, ZIP code and state as they appear on the listing (middle initial optional). TruthRecord's form asks for the last name without a suffix such as Jr., Sr. or III.
  3. Give an email address for the confirmation link and press Submit. It doesn't have to be the listed person's address. Both sites say the request is logged the moment you submit, and their deadlines run from that date.
  4. Click the link in the email. Both pages say nothing is removed until you do.
  5. Do the same at truthrecord.org/api/helper/optOutLight/search. Name variants and old cities may need their own request on each site.

The same form runs on several sites owned by other companies; our PersonSearchers guide walks through it screen by screen.

Timing and phone numbers

Both sites say they acknowledge requests within 10 business days and complete them within 45 calendar days. They can't recall a copy someone already downloaded. If the confirmation link never arrives, or you'd rather not use the page, each site gives a phone number to complete the request:

  • WeInform: (855) 879-0159
  • TruthRecord: (855) 935-6090

Filing for someone else

Tick "I'm submitting this on behalf of the person in the listing" and attach the person's signed authorization as a PDF (up to 10 MB). Both pages say they ask for the consumer's signed permission before acting on a removal someone else submits, store the PDF encrypted and use it only to confirm you're authorized, and tell you to use your own email for the confirmation link.

Check it worked

Search your name plus city on each site in a private browsing window once the link is clicked, and again after 45 days. Both sites say a confirmed removal also covers matching records they take in later, but a record that doesn't match what you submitted (a new spelling, a city you didn't list) can still produce a fresh listing; if one appears, file again or call the number above.

Defynta's free scan does not include WeInform or TruthRecord, so check them yourself. The scan checks the other people-search sites we track, where the same name and address records can turn up. If you live in California, the state's free DROP tool sends one deletion request to the brokers on its registry, We Inform LLC included; see our California Delete Act guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WeInform opt-out free?

Yes. Neither site asks for payment or an account.

Does one request remove me from both sites?

Neither page says so, and each has its own form and phone number, so file on both.

Why do they want my date of birth?

To tell you apart from other people with the same name. The pages say the details you enter are used only to stop results being returned, kept on file for that purpose, and never sold or shared.
