TruthFinder markets itself as a deep background-check service, "find out the truth about anyone." Its reports lean heavily on court records, arrest records, and other public filings, stitched together with addresses, phone numbers, relatives, and social media accounts. It's a subscription product, which means anyone paying a monthly fee can read a dossier on you.
TruthFinder is a PeopleConnect brand, which shapes the removal process: there is no TruthFinder-specific opt-out form. Removal happens through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center, and one request there covers name searches on TruthFinder and PeopleConnect's other people-search sites, including Intelius, Instant Checkmate and US Search.
The Suppression Center's email step and its coverage notes were checked against PeopleConnect's live page on October 16, 2026. We stopped at the email step, so the screens after the verification link are described from earlier research.
What is TruthFinder?
TruthFinder assembles subscription background reports that can include:
- Full name, aliases, age, and birth details
- Address history and location data
- Phone numbers and email addresses
- Arrest, criminal, and traffic records where available
- Court filings, liens, and judgments
- Relatives, associates, and social media profiles
A note on its dramatic marketing: TruthFinder is not an FCRA consumer reporting agency, so employers and landlords can't lawfully use it for screening decisions. In reality, individuals use it for exactly the judgments the disclaimer disclaims, which is why suppressing your report matters.
Before you start
The PeopleConnect suppression flow asks for real identity data:
- A working email address (verification link required)
- Your date of birth and full legal name, used to locate every record the network holds on you; inaccurate entries mean failed matches and surviving listings
- Patience for one quirk: there's no confirmation email at the end. You verify success yourself.
Also know that PeopleConnect typically rejects opt-outs filed by third-party services. This one you do personally, it takes about ten minutes.
How to remove yourself from TruthFinder, step by step
Step 1: Go to the Suppression Center
Open suppression.peopleconnect.us, the same portal reached from the "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" links on TruthFinder's own footer.
Step 2: Verify your email address
Enter your email, accept the terms, continue, then click the verification link PeopleConnect sends you.
Step 3: Provide your identity details
Enter your date of birth, then your full legal name.
Step 4: Select your records
Review the matching records the portal returns. Verify by address history and age, and select all that belong to you.
Step 5: Suppress and save
Set each of your records to "Suppressed" and save your changes. PeopleConnect says this covers name searches on its people-search sites, including TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius and US Search.
Step 6: Verify after 48 hours
Suppression usually takes effect within two days (up to a week network-wide). No email will tell you it's done, put a reminder in your calendar and check manually.
What one suppression does not cover
PeopleConnect's Suppression Center page (checked October 16, 2026) says the free tool covers name searches on the people-search sites in its family, including TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius and US Search. The same page lists what it does not cover:
- Your name and other details may still appear in phone, address or email reports when someone searches by those instead of your name, and on registered sex offender lists.
- It does not touch account data those sites hold about you as a user, or other PeopleConnect sites such as Classmates.com.
- It does not remove the information from other sources, including the third-party sources PeopleConnect gets it from.
If you still see your data on a PeopleConnect site after suppressing, the page asks you to contact them. Judges, law enforcement officers, public officials and other protected people whose state law allows it can also email privacy@peopleconnect.us with the details the page lists (full name, date of birth, city and state, phone and email, the law you are relying on, and your protected status).
Verify the removal
Search your name on truthfinder.com in a private window after 48 hours, then sweep the sister sites: intelius.com, instantcheckmate.com, zabasearch.com, ussearch.com. A name search should come back clean on each. Anything left is a record you missed or a new one: log back in and suppress it, or contact PeopleConnect as the Suppression Center page asks. Phone, address and email lookups can still show you (see above).
Why your report can come back
Suppression covers the records that existed and matched when you filed. Fresh public records (a new address, new court activity, updated registrations) can spawn new profiles that aren't linked to your suppression, and TruthFinder will happily sell reports on those.
Re-check quarterly, or hand it to Defynta's Web Watcher. Silver subscribers can turn on monitoring, which rescans TruthFinder and the other sites we read every 30 days by default and emails you when a listing comes back.
Who runs TruthFinder. California's data broker registry (read October 18, 2026) lists TruthFinder, LLC with truthfinder.com, getfullreport.com, backgroundchecks.us, unitedstatesbackgroundchecks.com, courthousedirectory.us, courtlocations.com, locaterecord.net and recordlocator.net. PeopleConnect's Suppression Center page does not name the other domains, so check any that lists you.

Same suppression, verify each: Intelius, Instant Checkmate, ZabaSearch, US Search.
Separate networks needing their own opt-outs: BeenVerified, Spokeo, InfoTracer, CheckPeople. Full coverage in the master opt-out list.
Frequently asked questions
Can TruthFinder show my criminal record?
If a criminal or arrest record about you exists in public databases, TruthFinder can surface it in reports. Suppression removes your report from name searches on PeopleConnect's people-search sites, it does not (and cannot) erase the underlying government records themselves.
Is the removal free?
Yes. Ten minutes and an email address. No account or payment.
Why can't a removal service do this for me?
PeopleConnect's policy is to reject requests not made by the data subject, even with signed authorization. It's an outlier in the industry and, practically, a deliberate speed bump. Do this one yourself.
Does suppressing TruthFinder affect my credit or official background checks?
No. TruthFinder isn't part of the FCRA-regulated screening system. Suppression only removes you from PeopleConnect's consumer search products, official employment screening, credit reports, and government checks are entirely separate systems.
