How to Remove Yourself from ZabaSearch (2026 Guide)

ZabaSearch doesn't have its own opt-out, removal goes through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center. Here's the exact process.

ZabaSearch is one of the oldest free people-search sites on the internet, it's been surfacing names, addresses, and phone numbers since the mid-2000s. Type in a name and it returns addresses and phone numbers instantly, free, with no account required.

Here's the thing most people miss: ZabaSearch has no opt-out form of its own. Its data is supplied and managed by Intelius, which is part of the PeopleConnect network. To get off ZabaSearch, you go through the PeopleConnect Suppression Center. PeopleConnect says one suppression covers name searches on its people-search sites, including Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search. Its page does not name ZabaSearch, so check ZabaSearch itself afterwards.

The Suppression Center's email step and its coverage notes were checked against PeopleConnect's live page on October 17, 2026. We stopped at the email step, so the screens after the verification link are described from earlier research.

What is ZabaSearch?

ZabaSearch is a free people-search front end for the Intelius/PeopleConnect data ecosystem. A ZabaSearch result typically shows:

  • Full name
  • Current and past addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Links to a full (paid) background report via its partner sites

Because it's free and fast, ZabaSearch listings also get scraped and cited by other data brokers, one more reason to suppress the source.

Before you start

The PeopleConnect suppression flow verifies more identity than most brokers:

  • You'll need an email address you can verify.
  • You'll be asked for your date of birth and full legal name. This feels uncomfortable (you're handing a data broker your DOB) but it's how PeopleConnect matches you to the right records, and the alternative is staying listed. Use accurate information or the match fails.
  • PeopleConnect generally does not honor requests submitted by third-party services on your behalf. This is one network where doing it yourself genuinely matters.

How to remove yourself from ZabaSearch, step by step

Step 1: Open the Suppression Center

Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us. (ZabaSearch's own footer links to Intelius's privacy center.)

Step 2: Verify your email

Enter your email address, agree to the terms, and click Continue. Check your inbox for the PeopleConnect verification message and click the link.

Step 3: Identify yourself

Enter your date of birth, then your full legal name, completing the verification checkboxes as prompted.

Step 4: Find and select your record

The Suppression Center shows records matching your identity. Review them (check addresses and age) and select the one(s) that are you.

Step 5: Set the record to "Suppressed"

For each selected record, choose "Suppressed" as the desired behavior and save. This is the step that hides you from name searches on the sites PeopleConnect covers; check ZabaSearch itself afterwards.

Step 6: Check back, there's no confirmation email

PeopleConnect does not send a completion email. Suppression typically applies within 48 hours. PeopleConnect does not promise anything for ZabaSearch itself, so check it after about a week. Set yourself a reminder to verify.

PeopleConnect's page also says what suppression does not do: it covers name searches only, so your details may still appear in phone, address or email reports (and on registered sex offender lists), and it does not cover account data or other PeopleConnect sites such as Classmates.com. Suppression also does not remove your information from other sources. If you still see your data on a PeopleConnect site after suppressing, the page asks you to contact them.

Verify the removal

After a week, search your name on zabasearch.com in a private browsing window. Then check intelius.com, truthfinder.com, instantcheckmate.com and ussearch.com, the sites PeopleConnect names. If a name search still finds you, log back into the Suppression Center or contact PeopleConnect; phone, address and email lookups can still show you.

Why your listing can come back

Suppression applies to the records PeopleConnect matched to you at the time. New public records (a move, a court filing, an updated voter registration) can create fresh records that aren't linked to your suppressed identity, and those will surface on ZabaSearch again.

Re-run the check every few months, or hand it to Defynta's Web Watcher. Silver subscribers can turn on monitoring, which rescans ZabaSearch and the other sites we read every 30 days by default and emails you when a listing comes back.

Who runs ZabaSearch. California's data broker registry (read October 18, 2026) lists Intelius, LLC with 22 web addresses, including intelius.com, ussearch.com, zabasearch.com, addresses.com, peoplefinder.com (not peoplefinders.com, which Peoplefinders, LLC runs), peoplefind.com, publicrecords.com, reversephonelookup.com, telephonenumberlookups.com, arrestrecordsearch.com, criminalrecords.com, easybackgroundchecks.com and others. TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate are registered as separate companies (TruthFinder, LLC and Instant Checkmate LLC). PeopleConnect's Suppression Center page names only Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and US Search, so check any other of these sites that lists you.

Related sites to check next

The Suppression Center names only TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, Intelius and US Search; verify each of these after a week:

Then move on to the unrelated networks (Spokeo, Whitepages, TruePeopleSearch) via the master opt-out list.

Frequently asked questions

Why does ZabaSearch send me to another company's website to opt out?

ZabaSearch's records are supplied and managed by Intelius, whose parent is PeopleConnect. The Suppression Center is the network's main removal point, and PeopleConnect says one request covers name searches on its people-search sites.

Is it safe to give PeopleConnect my date of birth?

It's required for the suppression to match your records, and PeopleConnect already holds this data, that's rather the point. Giving it in the suppression flow doesn't expose anything new; it links your existing records to a suppression flag.

How long does the whole process take?

About ten minutes of your time, roughly 48 hours for suppression to apply, and a check of ZabaSearch itself after about a week.

I suppressed my record but a different listing for me just appeared. Why?

A new public record created a new profile that isn't tied to your suppressed identity. Log back into the Suppression Center, find the new record, and suppress it too. This is the recurring maintenance the industry quietly relies on you forgetting.
