Classmates has no single opt-out. Email privacy@classmates.com about yearbook photos, remove your account, or file a state-law deletion request.

Classmates.com is a school reunion site run by PeopleConnect, Inc., which does business as Classmates.com. It hosts scanned yearbooks, member profiles and photo tags, so your name or school photo can be on it whether or not you ever signed up.

There is no single Classmates opt-out. Advice online disagrees on whether you need an account, and the honest answer is that it depends on your situation: a yearbook photo, your own account, a tag on a photo, or a privacy-law request each has its own route. One thing is settled: PeopleConnect's Suppression Center, the tool our Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, US Search and ZabaSearch guides send you to, does not cover Classmates. Its page says it does not apply to other PeopleConnect sites, including Classmates.com, and to use that site for your rights.

Checked against Classmates' privacy policy (classmates.com/about/privacy, update effective March 3, 2026), its help center articles on cancelling a membership, contacting Member Care and deleting yearbook tags, its request form (help.classmates.com/hc/en-us/requests/new), and PeopleConnect's suppression page (suppression.peopleconnect.us), on October 24, 2026. We read the pages; we did not sign in, fill in or submit anything.

Which situation are you in?

  • Your photo is in a yearbook scan, member or not: email Classmates (situation 1).
  • You have a Classmates account: remove the registration (situation 2).
  • Someone tagged you in a yearbook photo: delete the tag from your profile (situation 3).
  • You want Classmates to delete what it holds about you: a state-law privacy request, member or not (situation 4).

Situation 1: your photo is in a yearbook

Section 3 of the privacy policy says you can ask Classmates to remove your images from yearbooks by emailing privacy@classmates.com. Include:

  1. Your name as it appears in the yearbook or yearbooks.
  2. The school or schools, and the year or years.
  3. The page numbers.
  4. Screenshots of the images, if you can.

The policy says Classmates may independently seek to verify your identity, meaning that you are the person shown and have authority to ask. It asks you to allow a reasonable time, and gives no number of days.

This route covers images only. Classmates' pages don't say whether a non-member can have their name removed from the yearbook text or from a class list. For that, use the state-law request in situation 4. We searched Classmates' help center for yearbook removal, opt-out and removing a name, and found no article on yearbook image removal or on opting out as a non-member.

Two other cases in the policy: if someone made a profile that depicts you without your consent, contact Member Care through the request form to ask for its removal, and anything concerning a minor goes to privacy@classmates.com.

Situation 2: you have an account

Free members. The help center's article on cancelling your membership has a CLICK HERE link. Follow it, choose a reason, click Remove Registration and confirm. The request form also has a Remove My Free Account option, which asks for your email, name, a subject, a description and attachments.

Paid members. Turn off automatic renewal first. The membership goes back to a free one when it expires, and the free-member steps then apply. For help, call Member Care on 206-301-5900, Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM Pacific.

The privacy policy says that if you want to stop search engines and third parties showing your information, the way to do it is to remove your account. It also says Classmates may keep information for a reasonable period after an account ends.

Situation 3: you are tagged in a photo

The help article on deleting yearbook tags says a tag can be deleted only by the member who created it or the member it identifies. From your profile, open Photos, open the tagged photo, click the trash can icon and choose Delete.

This needs a Classmates profile. Deleting a tag does not stop other members tagging you again. The same article says tags are removed automatically if the member they identify deletes their profile.

Situation 4: a state-law deletion request

The policy's "Your Rights and Choices" section lets you ask for deletion through the request form, by choosing State Law Data Privacy Request (email, name, subject, description, attachments), or by emailing privacy@classmates.com.

  • Identity check. You must give some personal information so Classmates can verify you and match you to the profile. If you are not signed in, it may ask for your name, email and phone number.
  • Limits. The policy says deletion may be limited by law.
  • Timing. The policy gives no timeframe for a deletion.
  • Postal address. The policy's address is Classmates.com, Attention: Policy Compliance, 1687 114th Ave SE, Suite 200, Bellevue, WA 98004.
  • Coming back. The policy says using the site again after a deletion may be treated as a new account.
  • Selling and sharing. To opt out of sale or sharing through cookies, use the site's cookie controls or a Global Privacy Control signal. For other selling, use the request form or email.
  • Nevada. Email with the subject "Nevada Do Not Sell Request", your name and the email on your account.
  • Appeals. If you live in one of the states the policy lists (California is not one), email with the subject "Privacy Rights Appeal". The policy says appeals are answered within 45 days.

Can someone else file for you?

Depending on where you live, the policy accepts an authorized agent acting for a Classmates member. The agent must show written authorization signed by the member, with their full name, address, phone number and the email they use with Classmates, plus a certificate of good standing from the agent's state. A valid power of attorney with that email also works. For requests to know, delete or correct, Classmates confirms the agent's authority directly with the member by that email.

How long does it take?

Classmates gives no timeframe for removing a yearbook image (only "a reasonable time") or for a deletion request. The only timeframe the policy gives is for appeals: within 45 days. Keep a note of what you sent and when, and check the pages again later.

Classmates isn't one of the sites in Defynta's free scan, and Defynta doesn't file requests with it: this one is do-it-yourself. The scan looks you up on the people-search sites we track and gives you a direct link to check each one.

Who runs Classmates. The privacy policy names PeopleConnect, Inc., doing business as Classmates.com, with its policy compliance address in Bellevue, Washington. We did not find a Classmates entry on California's data broker registry (searched October 23, 2026).

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove my name from Classmates.com without an account?

For yearbook images, yes: the details the privacy policy asks for in that email do not include an account. Classmates' pages don't describe a way for a non-member to take a name out of yearbook text or a class list, so file a state-law request, which you can make without signing in. Deleting a tag needs an account.

Does the PeopleConnect Suppression Center remove me from Classmates?

No. PeopleConnect's suppression page says it does not apply to other PeopleConnect sites, including Classmates.com. Make your request to Classmates directly.

How long does a Classmates yearbook photo removal take?

Classmates' pages don't say. The privacy policy asks you to allow a reasonable time.

Why was I tagged again after I deleted a tag?

Deleting a tag does not stop other members tagging you again. The help center says tags identifying you are removed automatically if you delete your profile.
