Check which sites list you, free

Checks the people-search sites we track. No account, email, or card. You see the results before you create an account.

CheckPeople is a subscription background-check site in the mold of TruthFinder and BeenVerified: pay a monthly fee, search anyone, read their dossier. Its reports pull together addresses, phone numbers, relatives, criminal-record indicators, and social profiles, the standard kit, sold to anyone with a card on file.

CheckPeople honors free opt-out requests through what it calls its Suppression Center. The flow starts with your email address, not your name, and the timeline runs closer to a week than the 24 to 72 hours you may be used to from other brokers.

Steps checked against CheckPeople's live opt-out and privacy-rights pages on October 16, 2026. We read the pages; we did not submit the form, so we have not seen the screens after the verification link.

What is CheckPeople?

CheckPeople compiles public records and commercial data into paid reports that can include:

  • Full name, age, and aliases
  • Current and previous addresses
  • Phone numbers and email addresses
  • Relatives and associates
  • Criminal and court record indicators
  • Social media profiles

As with its competitors, it's not an FCRA consumer reporting agency, its reports legally can't be used for employment or tenant screening, but nothing stops individuals from consulting it before a date or a deal.

Before you start

  • Have an email address you can check right away. The first page asks for nothing else, and the verification link it sends is how you get to the next step.
  • Know your name, city and state as the record lists them, so you can pick out the right listing once you are in.
  • Set expectations: CheckPeople says opt-out requests can take 5 to 7 days to take effect.

How to remove yourself from CheckPeople, step by step

Step 1: Open the Suppression Center

Go to checkpeople.com/opt-out. The page is titled "Opt-Out (Remove My Information)" and headed Suppression Center. You can also get there from the footer: "Do Not Sell or Share my Personal Information" opens a privacy-rights page, and its "Exert Right to Opt-Out" button leads to the same Suppression Center.

Step 2: Enter your email and agree

Enter your email address, tick the box agreeing to CheckPeople's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (it also covers transactional emails about the suppression tool), and click Continue. When we checked, this first page had no CAPTCHA.

Step 3: Open the verification link

CheckPeople emails you a verification link "to proceed." The page says the link is how you continue, so click it before moving on.

Step 4: Find and select your listing

We stopped before the screens behind the link, so we can't show them. CheckPeople says the Suppression Center lets you manage how your information is displayed on the people-search websites it owns. Look for the listing that is actually you (check age, city history and relatives) and choose it for removal.

Step 5: Repeat for additional records

Name variants and old locations can carry separate records; each needs its own pass.

Opt-out is not the same as "Delete My User Data"

The privacy-rights page has three buttons. Exert Right to Opt-Out is the one that removes your data from CheckPeople's people-search results, whether or not you are a member. Delete My User Data is for account holders: it cancels subscriptions and deletes the account. Request a Copy of My Data emails you a download link that lasts 24 hours.

How long does removal take?

CheckPeople says opt-out requests can take 5 to 7 days to take effect, and longer for results to drop out of search engines. If your listing is still visible after two weeks, contact support@checkpeople.com (listed on the opt-out page, as is its toll-free number, 1-800-267-2122) with the date of your original request.

Verify the removal

After a week, search your name on checkpeople.com in a private browsing window (the free search preview is enough to see whether a record on you still exists, you don't need to buy anything). Check variants and past cities. Anything remaining gets a fresh request.

Why your listing can come back

CheckPeople refreshes its database from public-record sources on an ongoing basis. A removed profile can reappear weeks or months later when new data arrives that doesn't match the suppressed record, a new address is the classic trigger.

Plan on re-checking every few months, or hand it to Defynta's Web Watcher. Silver subscribers can turn on monitoring, which rescans CheckPeople and the other sites we read every 30 days by default and emails you when a listing comes back.

Frequently asked questions

Is the CheckPeople opt-out free?

Yes. You'll never need an account or payment to be removed.

Why does CheckPeople start with my email instead of my name?

The email is how CheckPeople verifies the request: the link it sends is how you proceed to the next step. Use an address you can open right away. It doesn't have to be your main inbox.

Why does CheckPeople take a week when other sites take a day?

Different brokers batch their suppression jobs differently. CheckPeople states 5 to 7 days; it's only worth escalating past the two-week mark.

Will opting out remove my criminal records?

It removes your report from CheckPeople's products. Underlying government records remain in official databases, and other brokers may still surface them, which is why the full sweep matters more than any single site.

Does CheckPeople notify me if my data comes back?

No broker does, reappearance is silent. That's the gap monitoring fills: with Web Watcher monitoring on, you get an email when a listing returns on a site we read, instead of finding out by accident.
