Prabook doesn't publish a removal form. Its Q and A page says that if a profile about you appeared on Prabook, you can register for free, edit the profile (removing your birthdate, for example), and leave its Available for editing box unchecked so other users can't change it. It also says you can take any issue to its administration team at contact@prabook.com. Its privacy policy lists a right under the CCPA to ask a business to delete personal data it has collected about you, and a right to erasure under the GDPR, under certain conditions, and says Prabook has one month to respond to a request.
Prabook, which also calls itself the World Biographical Encyclopedia, says it is meant to preserve information about any person who ever lived. Its Q and A page says it extracts information about people from international and national Who's Who publications, biographical dictionaries and encyclopedias, and that this information may be incomplete or contain parts you'd like to change or remove. Its about page says it is meant for people who aren't famous on a national scale, such as scholars, architects, doctors, lawyers, economists and businesspeople. Users add profiles too: the Q and A page says you can add articles about people you admire, a relative included. It says anyone can go to the site, open a profile and get full access to its information, and that a published profile is available to anyone online and on search engines. The profile we opened (a historical figure's, reached from the site's directory) had sections for General, Education, Career, Works, Life Stance, Personality, Connections, References and Album.
Checked against Prabook's Q and A page (undated), its privacy policy and terms of service (both last updated February 10, 2021), its about and contacts pages, and one profile page reached from its directory; and California's data broker registry, on October 31, 2026. The privacy address some older pages link to (prabook.com/web/privacy.html) showed "Sorry, this page isn't available"; the current policy is at prabook.com/web/privacy-policy.html. We read the pages; we did not search for anyone, register, sign in or send anything.
How to ask Prabook to remove your profile
- Find your profile and copy its link. Profile addresses take the form prabook.com/web/ followed by a name and a number.
- Email contact@prabook.com. The Q and A page names this address for any issue with your profile, and the privacy policy says to contact Prabook to use your deletion and erasure rights; contact@prabook.com is the email it gives.
- Ask plainly for deletion, and include the link.
A suggested wording:
To: contact@prabook.com
Subject: Please delete my profile
Please delete the Prabook profile about me, and the personal data you hold about me: [link]
Name as shown on the profile: [name]
[If you live in California: I am making this request under the California Consumer Privacy Act.] [If you live in the EU or UK: I am making this request under my GDPR right to erasure.]
Please confirm when it has been done.
The pages we read don't say whether Prabook deletes a profile on request, how it checks that a request comes from the person on the profile, or how long it takes beyond the one-month response its privacy policy describes.
Or edit the profile yourself
The Q and A page describes this route for a profile that came from Prabook's sources:
- Register. It says registering is free and simple, and that it is not required to provide any personal information to register an account. (Its privacy policy says that when you register, Prabook may ask for contact details such as your name, address, email address and telephone number.)
- Open the profile and select Edit Profile. When you start editing, the profile's status becomes Taken, and no other user can touch it until you finish.
- Remove what you don't want shown. The Q and A page gives removing birthdate information as an example.
- Select the orange Publish button. It says your changes become visible to everyone else only after you publish.
- Leave Available for editing unchecked. It says this keeps other users from editing your profile even after you publish.
If you believe someone has unjustifiably claimed your profile, the Q and A page describes a Complain button that sends the issue to an administrator.
Editing is not the same as removal
An edited profile stays public. The Q and A page says anyone can open a profile and see its full information, and leaving Available for editing unchecked stops other users' edits, not other people's views. If you want the profile gone, ask by email.
What a removal or edit covers
- The profile on Prabook. That is what the email or your edits change.
- Not Prabook's sources. Prabook says it draws on Who's Who publications, biographical dictionaries and encyclopedias. Changing Prabook doesn't change those.
- Not search results right away. Prabook says published profiles are available on search engines, so an old result can linger after a profile is deleted. Google's Refresh outdated content page is for content that was deleted from a site but still comes up in Google Search: at the bottom of the page, select Request refresh, enter the page's address on the Page tab and select Submit.
Why a profile can come back
Prabook says its mission is to preserve information about any person who ever lived, and that users can create profiles about other people, a relative included. The pages we read don't say whether a deleted profile is kept from being created again. Search for your name on Prabook now and then, and write again with the new link if a profile reappears.
How long does it take?
The privacy policy says Prabook has one month to respond to a request under the CCPA or the GDPR. The Q and A page gives no timeframe for other requests. It says edits you publish become visible once you press Publish.
If it doesn't work
- Write again. Include the profile link and the date of your first email. Prabook's contacts page also gives a mailing address: 140 East 80th Street, New York, NY 10075.
- Edit it yourself meanwhile. Registering and editing (above) lets you take details such as a birthdate off the profile while you wait.
- Clear the old search result. Use Google's Refresh outdated content tool as above. See how to remove your home address from Google search results for the wider picture.
Prabook isn't one of the sites in Defynta's free scan, and Defynta doesn't file requests with it: this one is do-it-yourself.
Who runs Prabook. Its site footer says Prabook is a registered trademark of World Biographical Encyclopedia, Inc., and the copyright line in its terms names The World Biographic Encyclopedia, Inc. Its contacts page gives World Biographical Encyclopedia, 140 East 80th Street, New York, NY 10075, and the email contact@prabook.com. We did not find Prabook or the World Biographical Encyclopedia on California's data broker registry (searched October 31, 2026), so a registry-based request is not a route here. Write to it directly.

Frequently asked questions
How did my profile get on Prabook?
Prabook says it extracts information about people from international and national Who's Who publications, biographical dictionaries and encyclopedias. Users can also create profiles about other people.
Can I delete my Prabook profile?
You can ask. Email contact@prabook.com with the profile link. Its privacy policy lists a right to ask for deletion under the CCPA and to erasure under the GDPR, under certain conditions. The pages we read don't say whether it deletes profiles on request.
Do I have to register?
Only to edit the profile yourself. Prabook says anyone can view a profile, but editing requires registering. Asking for deletion by email doesn't.
Does it cost anything?
Prabook's Q and A page says registering and editing your profile is free. None of the pages we read mention a fee for a deletion request.
Can I stop other people editing my profile?
Yes, once you've edited it. Prabook says leaving Available for editing unchecked keeps other users from editing your profile after you publish.
