LocateFamily takes removal requests through the small grey garbage can at the right of each listing, or, when a line has none, through its removal form at locatefamily.com/removal2.html. It rejects requests from email addresses that don't fit your name, and a request holds only while its address keeps working.
LocateFamily.com is a worldwide directory that lists names next to street addresses and, on some lines, phone numbers. Its FAQ says it collects data from sources around the world, shows only what it considers non-confidential, such as name and civic address, and won't disclose its exact sources.
Checked against LocateFamily's live Removal page, removal form, FAQ, Legal, Privacy Policy and Contact pages on October 20, 2026. We read the pages; we did not submit the form.
How to remove yourself from LocateFamily
- Find the page that lists you, through the A to Z links at the top of the site or its search box.
- Each listing is one line. Note the entry number at the left of your line, and copy the page's address from your browser's address bar. It must start with https://www.locatefamily.com.
- Click the grey garbage can at the right of your line and follow the steps.
- If your line, or the whole page, has no garbage can, open the Removal Request Form at locatefamily.com/removal2.html. The footer's "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link opens the same form.
- Fill in your name and telephone, your email address, the page URL, and the entry number or numbers. Separate several numbers on the same page with commas (for example 11, 31, 75). If you are listed on more than one page, send one form per page.
- Tick the box to be notified when LocateFamily is updated (see below), add any comments, complete the reCAPTCHA and click SUBMIT.
- Look for the confirmation message. If none arrives, check LocateFamily's public list of rejected requests, linked from its Removal page.
The email rules
The form is strict about the email address. It rules out:
- an address that is invalid or returns an error, which its automated system rejects;
- an address that doesn't fit your name. Its own example: if your name is John Doe, an address like jane.doe@ or blabla123@ is rejected;
- an address from a disposable email service;
- an address with a "+" filter, such as yourname+locatefamily@gmail.com.
The address has to keep working after the request, too. The FAQ says it keeps requests on file, but at each site update LocateFamily honors a request only if its email address is still valid. If the address returns an error at that point, the request counts as invalid and your listing may be shown again.
Use an address in your own name that you plan to keep. Because the address must match the name being removed, a request sent from someone else's address is likely to be rejected.
Turn on update notifications
The optional box on the form lets LocateFamily email you when it updates the site. The form says that despite its efforts, a removed listing can be shown again by mistake during an update. With the notices, you know when to check your page again.
How long does it take?
LocateFamily gives no timeframe. Its Legal page says that when a request comes in through the removal page, it may hide the information from public view pending a review. Check your page again a few days after you get the confirmation message.
If it doesn't work
- Your request was rejected. Check the list of rejected requests, fix the email address, and send the form again.
- You can't use the form. The Contact page says to write to info at locatefamily.com if you can't use the removal system or the contact form. Its Legal page says removal requests sent to the legal department are ignored.
- You work in law enforcement, corrections, the judiciary or another sensitive job. The FAQ says you can ask for removal for safety reasons through the same removal page. Identify your agency, either through the email address you send from or in the Comments box.
- LocateFamily asks for identification. The FAQ says it may ask for reasonable identification when it can't tell whether the request comes from the person listed. It says that can be as simple as a business card, mailing label, invoice or statement showing the same name and address as the listing.
- Someone else is listed with your phone number. The FAQ says the number may have belonged to that person before you, and you can ask to have it removed through the removal page.
- The page still shows in Google. See how to remove your home address from Google search results.
Who runs LocateFamily. None of the pages we read names a company. The FAQ mentions LocateFamily.com and its parent company and says neither is in the European Union. We did not find LocateFamily on California's data broker registry when we searched it on October 20, 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Is the LocateFamily opt-out free?
The removal page and the form mention no fee. You need an email address that matches your name, the page URL and your entry number.
Why was my LocateFamily request rejected?
The form's rejection rules are about the email address: one that doesn't fit your name, a disposable address, a "+" filter, or an address that returns an error. Fix it and send the form again.
Can my LocateFamily listing come back?
Yes. If the email address you used stops working, LocateFamily may show the listing again at its next update, and it says a technical error during an update can also bring a line back. Keep the address active and turn on update notifications.
