Ownerly Opt-Out: How to Remove Yourself (2026 Guide)

Ownerly has two free opt-outs: one for people search, one for property records. Each needs an email link and removes one record online; email for more.

Ownerly has two free opt-outs, both on ownerly.com: a People Search opt-out at ownerly.com/svc/optout/search/optouts, where you search your name, and a Property Search opt-out, where you search your address. Each one ends with a link in a verification email. If you show up in both, do both.

Ownerly is a home-value and property-records site. Its About page lists possible owners and residents, owner history from public sources, and county tax assessment and property value records among what it offers, along with searches by person, phone and email. Its privacy policy says the site is provided by The Lifetime Value Co. LLC, acting through Ownerly, LLC.

Checked against Ownerly's live People Search and Property Search opt-out pages, its About page and its privacy policy (last updated October 10, 2025) on October 21, 2026. We read the pages; we did not submit either form.

How to remove your name from Ownerly's people search

  1. Go to ownerly.com/svc/optout/search/optouts. You may see a short security check first; ours cleared on its own.
  2. The page is headed "Looking To Opt-Out of Our People Search?" Enter your first name and last name, choose your state (or leave it on All), and click Search.
  3. Select the record that is yours. If several people share your name, check the details shown before you choose.
  4. Ownerly sends you a verification email. Click the link in it to confirm the request.
  5. Ownerly then emails you to confirm that the record was opted out.

We stopped at the search form, so we did not see the screens after it. Follow what the page shows.

How to remove your name from a property record

  1. On the same page, click the Property Search link, or go to ownerly.com/svc/optout/search/optouts/property. The page is headed "Looking To Opt-Out of Our Property Search?"
  2. Enter the property address and click Search.
  3. Select the record, then click the link in the verification email.
  4. Wait for the email confirming the record was opted out.

This opt-out may leave the house on Ownerly. Ownerly says information about the property may still be available, but details about your identity and any association to the property are removed. In other words, expect the property to stay listed; what comes off is your name and your link to it.

Ownerly also says your name might still show up in its other search services after you opt out of one of them. That is why it pays to run both forms.

Ownerly and BeenVerified are separate requests

Ownerly is one of several sites with the same parent. Its privacy policy names The Lifetime Value Co. LLC, the company also named in BeenVerified's privacy policy, and California's data broker registry lists ownerly.com and beenverified.com on one entry, under BeenVerified, LLC and its subsidiaries and affiliates.

Both opt-out pages on Ownerly say it can only remove records from its own site. So a BeenVerified opt-out is not an Ownerly opt-out, and the other way round. If you have read that Ownerly's opt-out link sends you to BeenVerified, that is not what we found: on October 21, 2026, the footer's "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link pointed to an opt-out address on ownerly.com. Our BeenVerified guide covers that site's form.

Found more than one record?

Each form lets you remove one record online, which Ownerly says is to prevent fraud. For more, email privacy@ownerly.com and it says it will help. The same address handles a new record that shows up after an earlier opt-out.

Ownerly says it updates its results from several public and private databases. A new record with a different spelling, initials or address may not match your old one, so it can appear as a separate listing.

How long does it take?

Ownerly says that once you get its confirmation email, the change shows the next time its servers refresh, in most cases within 24 hours. To check, wait about a day and search your name (or your address, for the property form) again in the opt-out search. If an old result still shows, clear your browser history and search again.

If it doesn't work

  • Email the privacy team. The opt-out pages send problems to privacy@ownerly.com. The site footer lists support@ownerly.com, and its privacy policy lists 1-888-212-8460.
  • Judges, prosecutors and law enforcement. People covered by Daniel's Law, and family members in the same household, can email privacy@ownerly.com instead of using the forms. Include a screenshot of or link to your record, or your full name, date of birth, city and state, and email address.
  • Outside the US. Email privacy@ownerly.com with your full name and the information you want removed.
  • Use an authorized agent. The privacy policy says an agent must email privacy@ownerly.com a letter you signed authorizing the request, or a power of attorney under California Probate Code sections 4000 to 4465. The request must include your first, middle (if any) and last name, a valid email address, your age and your address. Checking the agent's authority may add time.
  • California residents. The privacy policy says Ownerly aims to answer a verifiable request within 45 days, and up to 90 days if it tells you it needs more time. See the California Delete Act guide for the state's own deletion request.
  • The page still shows in Google. See how to remove your home address from Google search results.

Why your listing can come back

An opt-out removes the record you selected. Ownerly says a data partner can send it a new record about you that it can't match to the old one, and that record can appear as a new listing. Check again after you buy, sell or move, and keep your confirmation emails.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Ownerly opt-out free?

Yes. Both opt-out pages say you never have to pay to remove your own record, and you don't need to be a member.

Will the opt-out remove my house from Ownerly?

Not necessarily. Ownerly says information about the property may still be available after a Property Search opt-out. What it removes is your identity and your association with the property.

Does opting out of BeenVerified remove me from Ownerly?

Don't count on it. Ownerly's opt-out pages say it can only remove records from its own site. File on each site that lists you.
