BlockShopper is a local real estate news and data site. Its About page calls it part community newspaper, part hyper-local real estate research tool, covering sale prices, owner records, foreclosures and taxes, and its search has a Homeowners option. The property page we checked listed the current owner by name (there, a company rather than a person), a sales history naming buyers and sellers with prices, and property taxes by year. BlockShopper's FAQ says the data is public record from county assessor and recorder offices.

Before you email anyone, know what BlockShopper's own FAQ says: it doesn't remove records, with exceptions for a short list of people. This guide covers who qualifies, how to ask, and what everyone else can do.

Checked against BlockShopper's live FAQ, About Us, Contact Us and Do Not Sell pages, its privacy policy and one property page on October 20, 2026. We read the pages; we sent nothing, so we can't show a reply.

The short answer

The FAQ says BlockShopper does not "eliminate records" on its site, because doing so would compromise the integrity of its data, and that public records are public for a reason. There is no opt-out form, and the footer's Do Not Sell My Personal Information link is not one (see below).

Who can get a record removed

The FAQ makes exceptions for:

  • certain government officials
  • law enforcement and public safety workers
  • people under court protection orders
  • people with officially documented stalkers or other threats

What to include, per the FAQ:

  • Officials, law enforcement and public safety workers: some proof of employment. The FAQ says writing from your work email is enough.
  • Protection orders and threats: documentation, such as a police report. If you can't provide it, explain why.

How to ask

Describe your situation and send it one of three ways the FAQ gives:

  1. Email, using the link in the FAQ's answer on anonymity. It is the same address as the Errors/Omissions link on the Contact Us page.
  2. Fax to 314-786-0519. The FAQ says no cover sheet is needed.
  3. Mail to BlockShopper, 27 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 428, Chicago, IL 60606.

List the address of every BlockShopper property page that names you, and keep a dated copy of what you send. The FAQ calls these requests for consideration, so a reply is a decision, not a formality.

How long does it take?

The FAQ says to expect to hear back within 24 to 48 hours or sooner. It doesn't say how long a removal takes after that.

If you don't qualify

  • Report errors. The FAQ asks you to tell BlockShopper right away if you find an error so it can investigate and fix it. If your name is on a property you never owned, that is an error; use the Errors/Omissions email link on the Contact Us page.
  • Don't count on Do Not Sell. That page is a toggle that opts you out of BlockShopper and its ad partners using your data for tailored ads. It says nothing about listings.
  • A privacy request won't reach the record. The privacy policy (last updated January 14, 2021) gives California residents rights to know, delete and opt out of sale, with a response within 45 days that can be extended once by another 45. But it also says personal information under the CCPA excludes publicly available government records, naming real estate transactions and property taxes. By its own definition, your property record is outside a deletion request.
  • Go to the source. The record comes from your county's assessor and recorder. Ask those offices whether they offer any way to shield an owner's name or address; the options differ from place to place.
  • Deal with search results. Our Google removal guide covers asking Google to drop results that show your home address.

BlockShopper is a property news site, so it isn't one of the people-search sites in Defynta's free scan. Property records turn up on people-search sites too; run the scan to see which of the sites we track list your address.

Who runs BlockShopper. The privacy policy names BlockShopper, LLC, 2045 W Grand Ave Ste B PMB 70012, Chicago, Illinois 60612-1577. The FAQ and Contact Us page give the 27 N. Wacker Drive office, and the Contact Us page lists phone numbers in St. Louis (314-485-4882) and Chicago (312-436-1880). The About Us page says BlockShopper was founded in 2006 and is part of the Mifeed Community News Network. We did not find BlockShopper on California's data broker registry (searched October 20, 2026), so the state's DROP tool, which sends requests to registered brokers, is not a route here.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove my name from BlockShopper?

Only if you fit one of the FAQ's exceptions: certain government officials, law enforcement and public safety workers, people under court protection orders, and people with documented stalkers or threats. Otherwise BlockShopper says it does not remove records.

Is the Do Not Sell page an opt-out?

Not for listings. It opts you out of your data being used for tailored ads and says nothing about removing records.

My home sale was in a BlockShopper news story. Can that come down?

The FAQ says its stories use only information that is already public, from the buyer or seller, public records or a trusted media outlet. It describes no separate removal route for stories, so the exceptions above are the only route it offers.
